Fortis signs Agreement to start Trading Natural Gas at the Belgian Zeebrugge Hub (18/04)

On 18th April 2007 Fortis signed the Zeebrugge Hub Service Agreement with Huberator, in order to start trading natural gas at the Zeebrugge Hub.

This move is part of the continued succesful roll out by Fortis of its European gas and power trading business.

Fortis started trading natural gas at the UK National Balancing Point in January 2007 and power on the German RWE high-voltage grid in April 2007.

Fortis plans to be active by the end of the year on the Dutch TTF natural gas market and on Dutch, Belgian and French power markets.

The Zeebrugge Hub is the Belgian virtual trading point for natural gas where 57 counterparts are already active. Fortis plans to play a lead role in its development as the central point of liquidity for gas trading in Belgium.

Through the Fluxys pipeline grid the Zeebrugge Hub is physically linked to numerous pipelines passing through the Zeebrugge area, crossing Belgium from North to South and from East to West and enabling deliveries on border points such as IZT, ZPT, Zelzate, Eynatten, Quevy, Blaregnies, ..
